Mouse Acceleration Guide

Precision Sensitivity Calibration for Pro Gamers

Eliminate variable cursor movement and lock your aim into a strict 1:1 physical tracking ratio. Follow these exact steps to strip acceleration from your OS and game engines before running AimSync drills.

OS CONFIGURATION

Disable Windows Mouse Acceleration

Windows applies a non-linear acceleration curve by default. Professional players require a straight 1:1 input ratio. Follow these exact registry and control panel steps to neutralize OS-level interference.

Step 1: Control Panel Pointer Speed

Navigate to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse > Additional mouse settings. Under the Pointer Options tab, move the "Select a pointer speed" slider to the exact center (6th tick). Uncheck "Enhance pointer precision". Click Apply.

Step 2: Registry Curve Neutralization

The center slider alone leaves a hidden acceleration curve. Open regedit and navigate to `HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse`. Set `MouseSpeed` to `0` and `MouseThreshold1` / `MouseThreshold2` to `0`. Restart your desktop session to apply.

Step 3: Hardware Polling Rate Lock

Open your mouse software (Razer Synapse, Logitech G HUB, or SteelSeries GG). Set polling rate to 1000Hz (1ms) and disable any "Smart Acceleration" or "Dynamic DPI" macros. Save profile to onboard memory.

ENGINE CONFIGURATION

Neutralize In-Game Acceleration

Even with a clean OS, game engines like Unreal Engine 5 and Source 2 inject input smoothing or raw input overrides. Lock these variables before running your AimSync calibration drills.

Unreal Engine Titles (Valorant, Fortnite, Warzone)

Navigate to Settings > Gameplay > Mouse Sensitivity. Set "Enhance Pointer Precision" to Off. In the console, bind `rawinput 1` and `cl_mouseaccel 0`. Valorant users should verify "Raw Input" is toggled ON in the advanced mouse tab.

Source 2 & GoldSrc (CS2, TF2)

Open the developer console and input `sensitivity 1.0` (baseline). Force zero acceleration by typing `mouse_accel_windows 0` and `mouse_accel_mac 0`. Disable input smoothing with `cl_input_smooth 0` and `cl_input_smooth_msec 0`.

Epic & Proprietary Engines (Overwatch 2, Apex Legends)

Overwatch 2: Set "Mouse Acceleration" to 0.00 in the key bindings menu. Apex Legends: Navigate to mouse settings and toggle "Raw Input" to ON. Set "Mouse Acceleration" to 0.00. Apply changes and restart the client to flush cached input buffers.

MUSCLE MEMORY SCIENCE

Why Pros Disable Acceleration

Mouse acceleration maps cursor distance to movement speed. Fast flicks yield higher DPI gains, while slow tracking yields lower gains. This breaks 1:1 physical correlation and fractures muscle memory development.

Consistent eDPI Tracking

Effective DPI (eDPI) combines in-game sensitivity with your mouse's hardware DPI. With acceleration enabled, your eDPI fluctuates between 800 and 2400 during a single engagement. Disabling it locks your eDPI to a fixed value, enabling precise crosshair placement recall.

Neural Pathway Optimization

The cerebellum learns motor skills through repetition of identical physical movements. Acceleration introduces a variable speed multiplier, forcing your brain to calculate trajectory twice. Flat input curves reduce cognitive load and accelerate aim acquisition by up to 40%.

Tournament Standardization

Major ESL, BLAST, and VCT stages mandate flat input curves for competitive integrity. Players like TenZ, s1mple, and Shroud operate with zero acceleration. Aligning with tournament standards ensures your aim translates directly to LAN environments.
